Duende offers this library of Creative Commons–licensed illustrations and templates.

Some years ago, I drew a series of ant cartoons to illustrate Eugene Eric Kim’s talk on collective intelligence. In conceptual research, I came across multiple references to the trippy trivia that an ant colony is the neuronal equivalent of a human brain.

What is duende?

Tener duende ("to have duende") is to have authentic power, soul, or magic. The storied term has roots in flamenco and derives from el duende, a mystical creature or sprite in Spanish mythology. The poet Federico García Lorca presented the aesthetic theory of duende in his famous 1933 lecture, Juego y teoria del duende (Play and theory of the duende).
